LEARN ALL ABOUT BRENT

Born in Swansea, Brent was initially exposed to the music his mother would regularly play at home. His love of the drums began when he was around 10 years old but his love of music preceded that. He began his musical studies with local teacher Martin Webber, later studying with Joel Rothman, Ed Soph and Bob Armstrong. His career began in the mid-1980s and has included working in a diverse assortment of venues from pub backrooms to stadiums, playing a variety of styles, including jazz, rock, pop, soul, funk and big band with artists including Jimmy Ruffin, Patti Boulaye, Brotherhood Of Man, Eban Brown, Matthew Herbert Big Band, Johnny Bristol and Bettye Lavette. He has written for several drumming magazines (Drummer, Drumhead, iDrum and Batterie) and loves listening to music with current favourites including Nik Bartsch’s Ronin, Todd Rundgren, Weather Report, Kurt Elling, Michael Brecker, Steely Dan and, of course, Bruce Springsteen.
