After starting to learn the trombone at 9 years old (although at that age his arms were too short to reach ‘7th position’) and being influenced by the likes of Californian Canyons; The Eagles; Jackson Brown; James Taylor; Joni Mitchell; Guns N Roses; and Aerosmith, Sam went on to study at music college.
Since then, Sam has been fortunate enough to work with some phenomenal players, such as Miller Anderson (Spencer Davis Group, Keef Hartley), Herbie Flowers (Lou Reed, T-Rex) and Pete Friesen (Alice Cooper, The Almighty) to name a few but he says one of the highlights of his musical career has been recording in the legendary Studio 2 at Abbey Road and playing on the same piano on which ‘Lady Madonna’ was recorded.
Sam was lead vocalist of the Eagles tribute band The Alter Eagles for 15 years and now brings his love of the Fender Telecaster and soulful vocals to The Sound Of Springsteen.
Favourite Springsteen tracks: ‘Prove It All Night’ and ‘Racing In The Street’
A couple of random facts about Sam: he’s a qualified plumber and (in his words) a ‘decidedly average’ cricketer.
